Required Technological Tools:
- Computer/Printer Access
You will need access to a computer and printer to compose and print all assignments. NO HANDWRITTEN OR TYPED SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Recommended word processing software is Microsoft Word. NOTE: It is recommended that you purchase at least two disks--one for storing your assignment documents and one for making back-up copies. If you do not own a computer, you may use the Rio Hondo computer labs for composing and printing your assignments (see lab hours below).
- E-mail Access
E-mail correspondence with the instructor--and with other class members--is highly encouraged and will contribute to your participation grade. NOTE: Rio Hondo does NOT provide e-mail accounts for students not enrolled in a Virtual College course. You may establish your own e-mail account through one of many free e-mail providers (a popular e-mail provider can be found on the Internet at http://www.hotmail.com).
- Internet Access
Access to the Internet is encouraged to gather information for your Special Interest Group presentation--as well as to access the course support Web site. Computers in the Rio Hondo computer labs and on the second floor of the library allow Internet access. For home computers, you will need to purchase Internet access through an ISP (Internet Service Provider), such as Earthlink, America Online, etc. Workshops on how to access the Internet and conduct online research are offered through the Rio Hondo Library (dates and times to be provided in class).
