- Set all paper margins (top, bottom, and sides) at one inch.
- Type the paper double-spaced and left-justified (all text lined up along
the left margin).
- Indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch.
- Do no submit a separate title page. On the first page of the text,
beginning in the upper left corner at the margin and one inch from the top
of the page, type the following information, double-spaced:
Your name
Kenn Pierson
ENG 101
Date (either 9 May 2001 or May 9, 2001)
- Double space after the date. Then, type the title, centered in the
page. In the title, capitalize only first letters of important words
(according to guidelines on pp. 73-75 of the MLA Handbook). Your
title should not appear bold, underlined, italicized, in quotation marks, or
in a font size different from the rest of your text. For
example:
- List of Potential Subjects
- Guided into a Disaster--First Version
- Double space after the title, then begin the text of the paper.
- Number each page, including the first page, in the upper right corner,
one-half inch from the top of the page. Include your last name before the
number. For example:
