Visualizing the Hierarchy of Argument
In the pyramid below, explore each main point to see how it relates back to the thesis, the "parent of all ideas" in an argumentative paper. Also explore each subpoint and it supporting evidence/logic to see how the main points are developed. (Click on each box for an example.)

Only three main points are presented in the pyramid below, since your Paper: First Version needs a minimum of three main points. As your paper grows in subsequent versions, you will undoubtedly include more main points, as well as an other sections--such as an informative background section and consideration of alternative points of view (to be discussed in Phase 6 and Side Trip 3.)

Now, it's your turn. Begin by writing a list of three main points BEFORE you sit down to write your first version.
