Approaches to Writing
Participation (50 mileage points)

To "participate" in English 101, you are expected to

  • attend the Virtual College orientation or complete the online Virtual College orientation.
  • complete the English 101 Online Course Orientation
  • read all announcements posted by the instructor (sent to your WebCT e-mail inbox)
  • read all lessons, assignments, activities, etc. on the course Web site in a timely manner (See "The Course")
  • submit all assignments via WebCT e-mail by the due dates
  • correspond regularly with the instructor via e-mail when you have questions, concerns, etc.
  • post your emerging research paper Subject/Topic/Question/Thesis/Main Points on your own Student Portfolio homepage (located in WebCT)
  • conduct library and Internet research as required for certain assignments
  • complete four conferences this semester at the Online Writing Center (located in WebCT)
  • actively participate with a writing partner to whom you will be assigned by the instructor. Writing partners will exchange and read selected assignments, and offer feedback that is helpful for revising those assignments.
  • alert the instructor via e-mail outside of WebCT whenever you have not heard from him for at least two weeks (See "Participants" for instructor e-mail addresses)
