Approaches to Writing

Think of this course as a highway leading you through the rigors of college writing--Highway 101!

During the next several weeks, you will travel Highway 101 on the "Main Journey" of writing an argumentative research paper on a topic of your choice. Your journey will be broken into seven "phases." Each phase will show you one more step in developing your paper through argumentative writing. Along the way, you will take two "Side Trips" to explore other kinds of writing: informative writing and analytical writing. You'll also learn new skills in library and Internet research. In a few short weeks, you will arrive at your destination--a more confident and "well traveled" writer.

So start your (search) engines. Let English 101 be the road to your success as a college writer.
