Writing Group Feedback: First Version
Writing Partner Feedback: First Version to Subsequent Version

Back in Phase 5, you sent your writing partner, via e-mail, a copy of your Paper: First Version (Assignment 5A). Your writing partner will now read the first version of your paper and send feedback to you via e-mail. That feedback--along with Kenn's feedback--will be necessary for you to complete Assignment 6A, "Paper: Second Version."

Of course, you must also provide feedback to your writing partner on his/her Paper: First Version submission. Once you have received a submission from your writing partner, read it, and then respond via e-mail with feedback.

Consider each of the following:

  1. What is the writer's thesis? Is it clearly presented?

  2. What are the writer's main points? Are they arranged in an effective or logical order?

  3. Which of the main points is most convincing to you as a reader? Why?

  4. Which of the main points is the least convincing to you as a reader? Why?

  5. How well developed is each main point with support (subpoints, evidence, logical explanations)?

  6. What additional support (subpoints, evidence gathered through research, or logical explanation), if any, would help to convince you of any of the writer's main points? In other words, what helpful information seems to be missing?

  7. How relevant are the writer's sources? How credible?

  8. Are the ideas that are borrowed from other authors acknowledged in parenthetical references? On a Works Cited page?

  9. Comment on any other aspects of the paper that relate to the paper's meaning, clarity, or structure of ideas. Do NOT comment at this time on grammar, punctuation, or other small-scale editing concerns.

Any questions or comments for Kenn?

Where do I go next?
After receiving feedback from Kenn and your writing partner, proceed to "Assignment 6A."
