Scoring Criteria

  1. Submission is titled correctly [For correct title, see "Assignment 7A" instructions under "How do I submit this assignment?"] (5 mileage points):

  2. Paper correctly uses MLA paper format (5 mileage points):


  3. Paper contains an introduction that announces the thesis statement and main points in a HIGHLY COMPELLING MANNER (5 mileage points):

  4. Paper contains a background section and/or other background information where needed (5 points):

  5. Thesis is developed by at least three main points that mark three distinct sections of the paper MORE CLEARLY than in the second version (5 mileage points):

  6. Each subpoint is convincingly developed by EVEN MORE evidence and/or logical explanations than in the second version as follows:

    • sentences are structured as complete thoughts (no comma splices, fused sentences, sentence fragments, etc.)

    • sentences contain few grammatical errors

    • sentences contain few mechanical errors (errors in punctuation, spelling, italics, capitalization, etc.)

    • sentences are not repetitious or wordy

    • sentences employ effective diction

    • sentences convey a clear tone and strong voice
