Scoring Criteria

  1. Submission is titled correctly [For correct title, see "Assignment 7B" instructions under "How do I submit this assignment?"] (5 mileage points):

  2. Paper correctly uses MLA paper format (5 mileage points):

  3. Paper contains a HIGHLY COMPELLING introduction (and a clear argumentative thesis statement) (10 mileage points):

  4. Paper contains a background section and/or other background information where needed (10 points):

  5. Thesis is developed by at least three main points that mark three distinct sections of the paper (10 mileage points):

  6. Each main point is FULLY AND CONVINCINGLY supported by subpoints, evidence, and/or logical explanations than in the Paper: Second Version (30 mileage points total):

    a. sentences are structured as complete thoughts (no comma splices, fused sentences, sentence fragments, etc.)

    b. sentences contain few grammatical errors

    c. sentences contain few mechanical errors (errors in punctuation, spelling, italics, capitalization, etc.)

    d. sentences are not repetitious or wordy

    e. sentences employ effective diction

    f. sentences convey a clear tone and strong voice

    g. parenthetical references and Works Cited page entries are correctly punctuated and capitalized, per MLA format

    h. parenthetical references and Works Cited page entries contain accurate and complete information, per MLA format
