	Topic:	Famous American serial killers
	Problem:	There are many different views concerning the mental competency of serial killers. While there are a growing number of people who believe that the characteristics found in serial killers are representative of psychosis, there are others who claim that the killer acts completely deliberately and is fully aware of his/her actions at the time of the crime.
	Question:	Why have serial killers been found to display similar pathological characteristics?
	Tentative Thesis Statement:	Only by studying the most notorious and familiar of serial killers will we be able to understand them and discover some basis for preventing their existence.
