Topic: Federal and state roles in legalizing suicide in the United States
Problem: People are suffering from the pains and traumas of terminal illnesses with little hope of living through the illnesses, yet federal and state governments are reluctant to legalize euthanasia.
Question: Who holds the final decision for using assisted suicide, the individual or the state?
Tentative Thesis
Statement:
It should be an individual right, not a government decision, for people to choose if they wish to terminate their lives using assisted suicide when they no longer wish to suffer from their terminal illnesses.
